Apa cerita?

Malaysian Today (pix taken from kidchan.com) was relaunched in 2005 supposedly as a sports newspaper. It was hailed as the newspaper that would not only help re-establish a sports culture in the country but also give due prominence to less heralded and minor sports. The National Sports Council (NSC) was forced to cough up RM500,000 on a monthly basis to subsidise the cost. Now, I don't know whether or not the money has been channelled to help subsidise the soaring oil price.

Today it is operating without a sports editor. The name A. Subramaniam (former Star sports journo and Asian Football Confederation media chieftain) was curiously missing from the May 22-28 edition. Not only that, there were 16 foreign stories as opposed to three local ones. I wonder why...but I'm happy that two friends of mine, Hisham Harun and Dazman Manan, my junior at school, are still contributing to the paper.

Is anyone still reading the FREE paper?

The June 5-11 issue also does not have a Sports Editor listed...
But what seemed interesting was the consulting editor for Malaysian Today, which is affiliated with Nexnews (whatever that is) carries the same name as another individual who is consulting editor for Malay Mail...how coincidental can that be!
